It’s a rare student who can simultaneously excel in the classroom, on the playing field and in creative expression, but Buffalo High School seniors Victoria Viteri and Matthew Scherber have distinguished themselves in all three areas to become the school’s Triple ‘A’ Award winners for 2022-23.

Congratulations to the 2023 MEGT Star of the North Award winner Bridgette Sturgeon. The award, which is presented by the Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented, is presented at the group's yearly conference to a Minnesota student between grades five and eight who has shown outstanding accomplishment in academics, visual or performing arts, or leadership.

On December 13, the BHM School Board approved the tax levy for 2021 payable 2022. The approved tax levy represents a 2.21% decrease from the previous year. This means that assuming no change in property value, the average residential homeowner in BHM will see a reduction in the school portion of their property taxes of $63 for the 2022 tax year.

DES was recently validated as a Minnesota School of Excellence by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association for its commitment to modern teaching and learning.  Principal Mat Nelson commented, "We have amazing, committed teachers and staff and I believe the #1 predictor of student success and the success of a school is the effectiveness of the people and our people are phenomenal educators who are committed to ongoing growth."

The BHM School Board appointed Ed Cox as the new Assistant Principal at Buffalo High School at their April 26th school board meeting.  Ed Cox's appointment is effective July 1, 2021.  Cox replaces Nick Guida who was recently appointed as the new BHS Activities Director.

Andrée Iden's appointment as the Principal at Tatanka Elementary STEM School (TESS) was approved at the April 26th school board meeting.  Iden replaces Principal Don Metzler who will retire on August 10, 2021.

At the Monday, January 4 BHM School Board Special Board Meeting, the school board elected new officers for 2021. Melissa Brings was unanimously elected to serve as the next BHM Board Chair. The other board positions were also elected (unanimously) as follows...

December 15, 2020

The BHM School Board approved the appointment of Buffalo High School (BHS) Assistant Principal Nick Guida as the next BHS Activities Director (AD) at their Monday, December 14 school board meeting. Current director, Tom Bauman will be retiring in August 2021 after serving in the district for 21 years. He began his career in BHM Schools as the Buffalo Community Middle School (BCMS) Administrative Assistant and Activities Director in 2000, changing to BCMS Assistant Principal in 2001 and finally landing as the BHS Activities Director in 2002.
