Academics

Academic enrichment offerings begin after the start of the school year. Parents and students should watch the school monitors, call the Activities Line and check our website for information regarding registration and first meeting times. There is a $25 fee to be in any of these activities and registration is done through the School Store in Campus Portal. The following activities are available to students:

Knowledge Bowl is a team contest in which students compete in written and oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning.  Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary academic program for students. They attend meets where they compete with area schools.

Knowledge Bowl starts the end of October and runs through the first week of December.

Math League meets once a week, typically on Mondays, 3:30 - 5 pm for weekly games, competition practices and learning how to be a superb math problem-solver.  There are five Math League meets competing against other local middle schools and a regional MATHCOUNTS competition is St. Cloud.  Any 6th, 7th or 8th grader can join Math League (including students participating in other activities).

Advisor: TBD

Math League starts the beginning of October and runs through mid March.

Student Council consists of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who are elected by their peers.  Each grade has six Student Council representatives and elections are held in September.  Throughout the school year, Student Council meets and works together in order to plan Pep Fests, School Dances and other events.  These students also voice the concerns of their peers to administration and bring new ideas as to how to build community within BCMS.

Advisors: Nicki Schahn - nschahn@bhmschools.org, Andrea Koltes - akoltes@bhmschools.org

Student Council applications are available the middle of September.  Voting will be at the end of September  and meetings begin the middle of October and runs all year.
