Volunteer Opportunities

Be the Change... Volunteer and Make the Difference!

 

Volunteer to work with adults in our Adult Basic Education classes who are trying to improve their literacy or academic skills.

Students Are - Adults 17 years of age and older

Volunteer's Role - Helping adult learners with English language acquisition; tutor students in reading, writing, math skills and GED subject areas

Training and Support - Provided by the Literacy Minnesota at literacymn.org

Time Commitment - 1-3 hours/week for six months

To chose a training schedule that works for you:

  1. Go to the MLC website mnliteracy.org/volunteers/training
  2. Under the Adult Tutor Training heading, chose either “ESL Tutor” or “Reading, Writing, Math” depending on your interests
  3. After you have earned your certificate, contact Terrisa 763.682.8509 for placement
