Remember the "Magic 5" for winter recess!

Remember the "Magic 5" for winter recess!

Brrr! The winter chill is in the air! Students should come to school dressed in their outdoor clothing, prepared to be outside for at least 20 minutes each day.  We go outdoors for recess and stretch breaks unless the temperature and/or wind chill are below 0 degrees. Students will need their "Magic 5" clothing items to play on the playground or field areas when there is snow, and for warmth when the temperature is below 30 degrees.

(*We check the outside temperature at 10:00 a.m. for recess, so as the weather warms up in the spring, remember that students need outdoor coats unless the temp is above 50 degrees at 10:00 a.m. See the link on the next page for more guidelines on dressing for the weather during recess.)

These are the "Magic 5" clothing items needed to play outside in the snow on the playground and field areas during their outdoor breaks...

Why Do We Work at Parkside?

Why Do We Work at Parkside?

Parkside staff members share why they love to work at Parkside, and these are posted throughout the year in our south hallway near the office.  Most of our staff members choose to stay at Parkside year after year, despite other opportunities within our school district and outside of our district. Each year they return with enthusiasm and purpose. Click on the title link above and find out why here!

Daily Schedule

Daily Schedule

Office hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Students should not arrive before 7:25 a.m., as students are not allowed in the building before then. There is no supervision available until that time as teachers are prepping for classes and attending meetings, and students will need to wait outside if they arrive prior to 7:25 a.m.  Make sure that your children dress appropriately for the weather in the event that they need to wait outdoors for a few minutes in the morning.  If your child is a walker, make sure that they are not leaving the house too early to avoid an extended wait time. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m. We have a 3-day rotating specialist schedule (Physical Education, Media & Music). Click here for more details.
