Food Service

We're proud of our school food service program. Our staff does a great job of providing high quality, nutritious meals to our students. The meals are planned according to federal guidelines, which cover not only the amount of food offered, but also the nutrient content. We participate in the "OFFER VS SERVE" plan for both breakfast and lunch. Students may select a minimum 3 out of 4 items at breakfast or 3 out of 5 items at lunch. This option provides our students with the opportunity to choose the food for their meal and helps to reduce waste.

All schools participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Free and reduced priced meals are available for families who qualify. Families who may qualify are encouraged to complete an application at any time during the school year. The information on the application is confidential, and used for determining meal benefits. Applications are available in each school office, online or from the Food Service Office at 214 First Avenue NE, Buffalo, MN 55313.

Lunch prices for 2012-13 are $2.25 for grades K-5, $2.45 for grades 6-12, $3.25 for adults and  $.40 for reduced price eligible students. Breakfast is offered each school day at $1.55 for elementary students, $1.65 for secondary students, $1.85 for adults and FREE for reduced price eligible students.

Please note: Students have access to a breakfast and a lunch each day. Second meals and individual menu items are the same price for everyone. Milk, when purchased by itself, is not included in the free or reduced priced meals program. Milk may be purchased at the price of $.50 each.

Meal payments may be made in each school and in the district office. You may also make payments using the Parent Account Management System (PAMS Lunchroom).  There are no service fees when using a credit card to make payments to your child's meal account. One of the features in paypams is the ability to set up automatic payments based on either a low balance or specified time interval. Please visit PAMS website at: http://www.paypams.com and see how convenient and secure it is to prepay your children's school meals on-line.  Student's are assigned a confidential PIN number which accesses their meal account. The meal account is debited each time a purchase is made.

Our menus may be found under District Departments, Food Service where there will be a link to menus.  Menus will also be posted in each school and copies are available for students to take home. Elementary and secondary students may pick up menus at the school office.

Parents are welcome to eat breakfast or lunch with their students; just call your school to make a meal reservation. If you have questions, please contact the food manager in your student's school or Marilyn Splinter, Food Service Director, 763.682.8772 in the district office.
