The middle school years are a great time to explore and become involved in school-sponsored sports and activities.  The BCMS activities program is designed to help students have fun, develop new friendships, advance skill levels, and have a challenging and rewarding experience.  The coaches and advisors share an appropriate philosophy toward the mental and physical well being of the middle school child.  Students should consider being in several sports and activities throughout their middle school years.

ACTIVITIES:  Clubs and groups will form after the start of the school year.  Parents and students should watch the school monitors, call the Activities Line and check our website for information regarding registration and first meeting times.  The following activities are available to students: 6th Grade Singers, Yearbook, Jazz Band (7th & 8th Graders) Student Council, Chamber Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Drama, Knowledge Bowl, Speech and Math Counts.

7th AND 8th GRADE SPORTS:  All seventh and eighth grade students, regardless of ability or experience, are invited to join a sport at BCMS.  We encourage everyone to at least give a sport a try.  Students must have a current physical on file.  Physicals are good for three years and most students have them before their seventh grade and tenth grade years to complete this requirement. There is a physical form that is available on this website under "Activities" and then "Forms", in the Activities Office or at most doctor's offices.  Parents and students also need to complete an online registration form through PayFee and pay $80.00 per sport.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunches, you can qualify for free or reduced activity fees and this will show up on the registration form online. Sports include:

Fall:  Football, volleyball, girls tennis, soccer, co-ed cross country and girls swim & dive
Winter:  Girls basketball, wrestling and boys basketball
Spring:  Baseball, softball, boys tennis, co-ed track & field and co-ed golf

INTRAMURALS:   BCMS is lucky to have a full complement of co-curricular activities in which students can participate.  In keeping with our philosophy of offering students choices and opportunities to be active, once again this year, BCMS will be offering a number of intramural activities.  The difference between intramural activities and the co-curricular activities is that intramural activities will be designed to take place here at BCMS and will include only BCMS students.  We will not be competing against other schools.  The goal in offering these activities is to try to give more kids an opportunity to become involved in a fun, safe, school sponsored activity.  All intramural activities will be set up strictly for fun and recreation. The intramural activities to be offered have not yet been set. In past years, students were able to participate in a creative writing class, an enviornmental club, computer games, chess, art club, weight lifing and many others, depending on student interest.  Students should pay attention to the announcements for more information.
