Parent: PTO, Volunteering, Resources

We have an active PTO at Tatanka Elementary.  The mission of this organization is to enhance the overall environment at Tatanka Elmentary by bringing together parents, students, teachers and community members.  This will be accomplished by planning events and activities designed to stimulate community involvement; giving families additional opportunities to be involved in their child's education; maintaining constant student representation on the PTO Board; and securing and generating funds which can be used to support special needs and activities and facilitate student learning.  The PTO is comprised of staff members, and Tatanka parents.  Several events are sponsored by this group each year and are well attended.  The hope is to offer more opportunities for families to get together and socialize.  You are encouraged to attend events throughout the year.  Consider signing up to help with an event.  Your participation is needed.  If you are interested in finding out more about our PTO activities and/or offering to help, please contact Don Metzler, Principal at 763.682.8602 or email him.

Tatanka Elementary School values parent volunteers.  We need help with various projects in and outside of school.  We provide orientation and can provide you with projects to do in school or at home.

School fundraising efforts you can help with include collecting Campbell Soup labels, General Mills boxtops, and laser and inkjet printer cartridges (any size).  All of these can be brought to the school office.

If you have questions or are interested in helping at our school, please contact your child's teacher.

Parental involvement is important in a child's education.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to visit Tatanka Elementary School.  If a parent wishes to visit a classroom, time and date arrangements should be made in advance with the classroom teacher so class disruption can be kept to a minimum.  All visitors entering the building during regular school hours should report to the office to sign in and obtain a visitor's badge.
