MATHCOUNTS!
Congratulations to the BCMS Math Team!
The BCMS math team took home a trophy for fourth place at the State Mathcounts meet on March 13th. Two of the students took trophies for third and fourth place respectively in the Countdown Round - Aaron and Ryan.
BCMS students previously competed in the regional MATHCOUNTS competition held at St. Cloud State University. BCMS is part of Lake Region and consists of 104 students representing 13 schools. The BCMS team came in 1st place overall and had many strong individual performances. At the regions, one of our students came in 1st overall individually and 1st in the Countdown round. One of our students was 2nd overall and 2nd in the Countdown round and one finished in the top 25%. Four other students also competed at the regionals individually. To make the regional competition, the students were the highest scorers in a school competition. MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide mathematics coaching and competition program for middle school students sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, NASA, and others.
