Math

Conforming to the new state law requiring algebra in grade eight and three years of math at the high school level, our math program at BHS offers Algebra 1.5, a bridge between algebra and higher algebra, Geometry and Higher Algebra.

In addition to these classes, students may also choose to take Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Life Skills, and Intro to Stats.  For those planning to continue math beyond high school, CIS Algebra, Advanced Placement Calculus and Advanced Placement Statistics offer the opportunity to gain college credit while still in high school. CIS Algebra is a two-term course equivalent to the Pre-calculus course at BHS. AP Calculus is a three-term course that covers approximately the first two semesters of college level calculus. AP Statistics is also a three-term course equivalent to a one-semester, introductory college course in statistics. The AP exams are taken at the beginning of May for those students interested in receiving college credit.
