wRight Choice Students Serving the Community

One Backpack at a Time

Students from the wRight Choice program partner with members in the community to serve area families.  Backpack Buddies has become an important addition to the wRight Choice program; when students are complete with their homework, they will help stock shelves and fill backpacks with food.  Around 300 wRight Choice students will help with the Backpack Buddies program within the course of the school year.  The impact this program has goes beyond the wRight Choice walls; Backpack Buddies partners with Phoenix Learning Center students to help fill the backpacks while the work program students at BHS focus on delivery.   All in all, we are not only serving supplemental meals to families in need, but we are also teaching students in our community the importance of giving back.  We provide an opportunity for students to see past their circumstances and recognize the needs of the community.

The Buffalo community also has played an imperative role in giving to this program.  Without financial assistance, in-kind donations and volunteers, Backpack Buddies would not be able to serve approximately 200 students in District 877.  Thank you for serving our community in such an important way Wright County Area United Way, United for Youth, Buffalo Rotary, BHM Principals, BHM building secretaries, Wal-Mart, Wright County Court Services, Wright County Court Administration, Phoenix Learning Center Students, BHS work program students, Second Harvest Heartland, Spirit of Joy, Cub Foods, Coborns, Buffalo Food Shelf, Anita Trutwin, Scott Larsen, Jessika Cuhel, Lisa Cuhel, Jean Sicheneder, Don Morgan, and Dale Schroeder.
