This is the second consecutive All-American ranking for the Tatanka.

The 2018 BHS yearbook, Tatanka, earned All-American recognition from the National Scholastic Press Association. This is the second consecutive All-American ranking for the Tatanka. This is the highest award given out by the NSPA at this stage of judging, placing the book among the top yearbooks in the country. To achieve this, the Tatanka had to receive a mark of distinction in all five areas of judging - Essentials, Coverage, Writing and Editing, Design, and Photography - in addition to scores in each category that placed it among the Top 5% of all books submitted for critique. The Editors-in-Chief for the book were Lindsey Kauffman and Hannah Park. Alison Tokkesdal was the Managing Editor. The theme of the 2018 yearbook was "Catalyst" in order to celebrate the people in the community and school that drive change, spark enthusiasm, and have a positive impact on others.

The 2019 book is looking to build on that success. The staff won first place at Balfour Publishing's Summer Yearbook Camp in June and four members of the staff recently returned from a weeklong trip to Dallas to work on the book with industry professionals and experts in design and photography.
