Buildings and Grounds Summer Projects

(August 7, 2007) A variety of summer maintenance projects are taking place around the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District. It's estimated that the major summer projects will total over $3.5 million all together. Buildings and Grounds Director Eric Hamilton says it's been a very busy summer and deadlines are of the utmost importance. "When you are replacing two school's air handling systems, it's important that all deadlines are met. If not, schools cannot operate with students and staff inside. We cannot allow that. Currently, we are on schedule with the completion of our summer projects."

Projects are being completed in all of the district buildings, but the following outlines some of the more major projects.

Buffalo High School Hires Assistant Principal

Buffalo High School Asst Principal Brandon PrellBuffalo High School (BHS) has filled the assistant principal vacancy by hiring Brandon Prell who is currently serving as the Farmington High School Assistant Principal. Prell replaces Rick Toso who is serving as the BHS Interim Principal since the recent retirement of Nick Miller.

Prell believes BHS is an ideal fit for him. "I have five years of Assistant Principal experience within a growing, suburban high school. I have worked in a culture where literacy and high student expectations have been a priority. I am excited to be a part of BHS which is considered a highly respected and prominent school in the state. I look forward to starting."

Assistant Principal Hired for Buffalo Community Middle School

BCMS Asst Principal Josh Swanson(May 29, 2007) At the Tuesday, May 29 School Board Meeting, the board approved the appointment of Josh Swanson as the new Buffalo Community Middle School Assistant Principal. Swanson will replace Barb Axel who will retire at the end of this school year after serving 24 years in the district.

Swanson was one of over 100 candidates who applied for the position and stood out as the best choice of the six interviewed. According to Human Resources Director Moreen Martell, throughout the process, Swanson demonstrated the attitude, skills and behaviors to be a successful leader in the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District.

Local Kim Carlson is Named Community Education Director

Community Education Director Kim CarlsonBuffalo native and 1989 Buffalo High School graduate Kim Carlson, is bringing her talents back to the district and the community. Carlson is the newly hired Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Community Education Director. She replaces Chuck Klaassen who was appointed as the district's Director of Finance and Operations after having served in Community Education for 19 years.
