Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose (BHM) School District has hired Amy Green as the new Special Education Director.  Amy replaces Joy Kieffer who will retire effective June 30th of this year.

Ms. Green is currently the Assistant Director for Sherburne Northern Wright Special Education Cooperative in Monticello, MN.  With degrees from Bemidji State University and St. Cloud State University, Green began her career as a Special Education Teacher in the Elk River School District and also taught in the Monticello School District for eight years.  She was hired as a Special Education Coordinator for the Sherburne Northern Wright Special Education Cooperative in 2009 and was appointed the Assistant Director of Special Education in 2014.

Amy has aspired to serve as a director of Special Education as it is her hope to inspire a culture of learners in the special education community, striving to create model programming for students with special needs and making progress toward closing the achievement gap.  She believes in providing instructional leadership and ongoing professional development to support the work of special education teachers.

Supt. Scott Thielman says Ms. Green will be an excellent addition to the District’s Administrative Team.  Amy is action oriented, innovative and passionate about the growth and development of students, staff and herself.  She loves working with parents to understand their hopes and dreams for their children.  “Amy will be a true asset to the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District and a key contributor in our mission of making a difference by preparing all students for a successful future in a changing world.”
