Wright County and Love INC Facilitating School Supply Collection Programs

It seems like school just got out for summer, but many people are already planning for students coming back to school in the fall! Wright County has "Project Pencils" and Love INC-Big Woods is working with the Buffalo Food Shelf to collect school supplies for students in need. Here is what you need to know about the two different programs:

Love INC-Big Woods and the Buffalo Food Shelf

Love INC-Big Woods has partnered with the Buffalo Food Shelf to collect school supplies for students in the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District. Supply doantions can be dropped off at most churches in Buffalo and Hanover (there will be supply lists and collection bins there). You can also drop off supplies at the Love INC office at 8- 1/2 Division Street in Buffalo from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If you would like to give a monetary donation, you can either drop them off at that address or mail a check made out to: Love INC  PO Box 368, Buffalo, MN 55313 and write in the memo line: School Supplies.

Families who qualify for free and reduced price meals through Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Schools are eligible to receive the free supplies. Families need to provide the proper documentation at the pick-up event. The event is happening at the Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo (south of Buffalo on hwy 25) on:

Monday, August 25 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Wednesday, August 27 from 5-7 p.m.

If you have any questions about the program you can call Love INC at 763-682-6820 or email them at loveincbigwoodsch@gmail.com.

Wright County "Project Pencils"

Wright County is looking for your help to provide supplies to students in need. All supplies go to children around the area (Wright and some Sherburne County). Families who receive supplies are referred to the program by their county social or financial worker. You can help donate supplies for the program by:

  1. "Adopting" a child and purchasing all or most of the supplies needed for that child.
  2. Donating misc supplies (a list of the supplies they usually run short on can be provided).
  3. Donating money to purchase supplies to Wright County.

Donations are needed by August 20.

If you have questions or need more information, you can contact Brandy Vollbrecht at 763-682-7941 or Brandy.Vollbrecht@co.wright.mn.us. Brandy can send you a list of supplies if you want to "adopt" a child. If you just want to purchase a variety of supplies, she can give you a list of some of the items needed. AND if you can't deliver the items to her office, she is willing to pick up any donations you can give.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, checks can be made out to: Wright County Human Services (and write "Project Pencils" in the memo line). You can mail or drop off donations to Wright County Human Services, Attn: Fiscal/Accounting, 1004 Commercial Drive, Buffalo, MN 55313.

Let's make going back to school exciting for a child and give them the tools they need to start the school year off right!
