Positions Open for Reading Corps Tutors
Tuesday May 13, 14

The Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District (BHM) is pleased to announce that Northwinds Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Discovery Elementary and Tatanka Elementary have been invited to participate in the Minnesota Reading Corps (MRC) program for the 2014-2015 school year. MRC is a statewide initiative to help every Minnesota child become a successful reader by the end of 3rd grade. MRC tutors work one-on-one with K-3rd grade students who are just below proficiency in reading. Tatanka has a half-time tutor position open this fall, and Northwinds and Parkside will each have one full-time tutor position available.  Beginning in August, recruited members will receive training and serve for 11 months. In exchange for their service, members will receive a modest living allowance and may be eligible for an education award to use towards college tuition or to pay back federal student loans.

If you are interested in becoming a Reading Corps Member, please visit their website at minnesotareadingcorps.org and click on "Join MN Reading Corps". Applications are currently being accepted through MRC. Please apply early if you are interested. If you have questions regarding being a MRC Literacy Tutor in BHM Schools, please contact either the building principal or Jenina Rothstein at 763-682-8768 or jrothste@bhmschools.org.
