Kris Thompson Named Central Division Assistant Principal of the Year
Monday Jun 30, 14

Buffalo High School (BHS) Assistant Principal Kris Thompson has been named the Central Division Assistant Principal of the Year by the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). Colleagues from the division nominate candidates. Thompson worked at BHS for 14 years as a physical education teacher, before leaving to gain administrative experience at Becker High School for two years. She returned to BHS in 2009 and has been in her current position as assistant principal for the last five years.

BHS Principal Mark Mischke used the word "lean" to describe Thompson. "She works tirelessly at her job and gives everything she can to her position, and the students and staff she serves."

Colleague and former co-worker Sandy Logrono, Becker High School Principal, said that during the two years that she worked with Thompson, she made her (Logrono) a better administrator. "Everywhere she goes she leaves a positive presence making connections with teachers, parents and students. She is student centered and believes success is the only option for kids."

Thompson will now be in the running, along with seven other candidates, from other divisions, for the MASSP Assistant Principal of the Year award. That announcement will be made during the 2014-15 school year.
