Enroll in One of Two BHM Magnet Schools

Tuesday Jan 2, 18
Application Process Opens January 16 for STEM and Arts Magnet

Tatanka Elementary STEM School and the Buffalo High School Arts Magnet Programs will accept applications for enrollment beginning Tuesday, January 16 through the Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD). BHM Schools is one of seven member school districts that make up NWSISD: Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Elk River, Fridley, Osseo and Rockford.

Tatanka Elementary STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) School (TESS) offers a magnet program within their school. Students attending Tatanka have an opportunity to use a "minds-on" approach, where they are guided through research questions and data analysis to investigate pieces of science and eventually develop an understanding of the concepts involved.

Students attend TESS as a neighborhood school. However, being a Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD) STEM magnet school, seats are available at each grade level to students who open enroll from within BHM Schools and from within a member NWSISD school district.

BHS Arts Magnet

Another NWSISD magnet school within a school is the Buffalo High School (BHS) Arts Magnet program. Students choose an arts concentration as the focus for their high school career. They take classes specific to their focus (such as performing arts or visual arts) while also taking "arts infused" core classes such as English, science and social studies.
