Staff Showcase

Thursday Feb 25, 10

Since 2005, the BHM staff have created, directed, and produced a staff variety show to raise funds for student post high school scholarships.  Funds that are much needed in today's economy.  The Staff Showcase is just one more avenue where staff demonstrate their heart-felt commitment to the communities' children.

The show is a combination of musical acts, skits, a joke wall, and a variety of other fun acts.  Some of the participants truly have quality talent while others, like me, need to heed the advice, "...best to keep your day job..."  Parkside Media Specialist Mike Quady, is our district's own "Jay Lenno".  He ensures the entire show moves along adding a sprinkling of humor and antidotes.

A community person asked me the other week, "When is the tutu returning to the stage for the Showcase?"  Wow, I was hoping people would have forgotten by now, but I guess when the superintendent is on stage in tights and a tutu singing off key, the image is priceless and lasts a lifetime.  I was kind of hoping the community would remember me for more important Showcase roles such as Ole in an Ole & Sven Olympic gig with our Director of Finance and Operations Chuck Klaassen.  Well, maybe I don't want them to remember that particular skit either.  The tutu is tucked away in a trunk, but maybe it will return in the near future.

Every dollar raised via the show goes to students.  Therefore, every ticket sold makes a difference for a student and eventually the education and training they receive to be productive and contributing citizens in the communities where they live and work.  What better way to enjoy some great talent, a few laughs, and help a kid out.  You can make a difference on February 19, see you at the Staff Showcase.
