All-Day Every Day Kindergarten
BHM Kindergarten Options
Buffalo-Hanover-Monstrose Schools (BHM) offers two options for kindergarten programming. In addition to the half-day kindergarten program, an all-day, every day kindergarten (ADEDK) option is also available for parents whose child will be starting kindergarten in September.
ADEDK is a fee-based program that will be offered at all elementary schools in the district in addition to the traditional free half-day kindergarten program.
During kindergarten registration, parents will have the opportunity to choose which program is right for their child.
The All-Day Every Day Kindergarten Program:
- All-day, every day
- Tuition-based
- Taught by dedicated licensed teachers
- Instruction in core areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, health, and visual arts
- Instruction in specialist areas: physical education and music
- Opportunities for additional enrichment and classroom activities
- Lunch and recess time, which provides opportunities for social interaction
- Access to KidKare (before and after school care)
The Half-Day Every Day Kindergarten Program:
- Half-day, every day(Hanover, Montrose, Northwinds, Parkside and Tatanka)
- No tuition
- Taught by dedicated licensed teachers
- Instruction in core areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, health, and visual arts
- Access to KidKare (before and after school care)
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration information will be mailed to families at the end of January (also see "More K-Info-General Kindergarten Registration Information"). Completed registration forms can be returned on kindergarten registration night or to the main office of the child's elementary school by April 12, 2013.
Parents will be asked to indicate their interest either in the ADEDK program or half-day program at kindergarten registration night. If parents choose ADEDK, a non-refundable $100 registration fee will be required at registration night or by the April 12, 2013 deadline.
After the April deadline, the district will determine how many sections are needed at each site. If a lottery is necessary it will take place at that time. Parents will be notified of their child's acceptance into the ADEDK Program by May 2013. Open enrollment applications will be considered after all in-district registrations have been processed.
Tuition for ADEDK
This non-refundable fee is due at the time of registration; no later than April 12, 2013. This fee does not apply to the full-year tuition cost. | $100 |
| Full-Year ADEDK Tuition Cost | $2,487 |
| Full-Year ADEDK Tuition Cost for Families Who Qualify for Reduced Lunches | $1,865 |
| Full-Year ADEDK Tuition Cost for Families Who Qualify for Free Lunches | $1,244 |
Two payment options are available for families who choose ADEDK. Payments will be made and processed through the Community Education Office.
Option 1: Pay in full by August 30, 2013 and receive a $100 discount
Option 2: Pay nine installments, monthly from August 2013 through April 2014
More payment information will be provided at kindergarten registration night. If you are a family who receives county daycare assistance funds, check with the county offices to see if those funds can be used to help offset the cost for ADEDK.
