Summer Arts Academy (grades 7-9)
An artist's adventure - join us for two weeks of imagining, creating, performing, and exploring. The Buffalo High School Arts Magnet Program along with Community Education is offering this exceptional opportunity for students to get a taste of an arts enriched program and experience hands-on, real-life artistic exploration. Each day is devoted to a different art form, (dance, theater, music, literary, visual, and media/technology). Students will meet, interact and create with professional artists, go "behind the scenes" and use their creative minds. Daily field trips are the rule. PLEASE NOTE: Parents must arrange transportation to and from the Buffalo High School front entrance (877 Bison Blvd.). Transportation to and from the field trip sites is included in the class fee. We will begin at 8 a.m. and be back by 4 p.m. each day. Register online or call Community Education 763-682-8770.
Some of the opportunities you will explore are:
- Create/perform with a toy puppet theater
- Hip hop and modern dance with a national dance company
- Back stage tour of the Hennepin theater district
- Compose and record your own music (in a real state-of-the-art recording studio)
- Printmaking in a professional print studio
- Book making and spoken word poetry with one of the premier Twin Cities spoken word poets
- Art museums and art labs
- Video production and movie making
- Photography
