ABE graduation

FREE ABE/GED Classes

Would you like help with your basic skills such as reading, writing, math or GED preparation?  If yes, ABE classes are for you!  Skills assessments and pretests help you set goals and make a plan for meeting them. September-May classes are ongoing, Mondays and Wednesdays, 9-11:30 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-9 p.m. in a BRAND NEW LOCATION, the Phoenix Learning Center, 800 8th St NE, Buffalo.

June and July Summer Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30 a.m.-12 noon and 6-8:30 p.m. at the Discovery Center, Room EC-4, 301 2nd Ave NE, Buffalo

 

GED Testing Information

Evening Testing occurs on selected Tuesday nights (*February 4 is a Thursday) at the Buffalo High School, 877 Bison Blvd., Media Center.  Arrive by 5:15 p.m. the first night, and by 5:30 p.m. thereafter.  Testing begins promptly at 6 p.m.  For more information, and to register (pre-registration is required) for the GED testing, contact the Hopkins Test Center at 952.988.5340.

All-Day Saturday Testing is at the Buffalo High School Media Center.  Arrive by 8:30 a.m.  Testing begins at 9 a.m. and will run until 4:30 p.m. with no break.

Saturday Testing:  (No Saturday testing summer months).







 

GED-i (Internet)

It is now possible to study for the GED using the Internet.  It is a FREE service offered through WEST ABE and your local Community Education.  Qualified individuals will be tested and assigned to an online GED-i instructor. Space is limited. For more information and/or to be considered, send an email to adminged.i@gmail.com.


Free English as a Second Language Class

This on-going class provides limited english speakers with help in speaking, reading, and writing English in multi-level classes.  Those interested should call Jodi at 763.682.8687 for more information or to register.

Family Learning Class

For parents with children age birth to five years who want to work on a GED, prepare to go to college/vocational school or the job market, be better prepared to help their child(ren) with learning, and have time to discuss the challenges of parenting.  For more information contact Devonna Tierney, ECFE Coordinator, at 763.682.8753.

 

Volunteer and Tutoring Opportunities

Give a few hours of your time each week and experience the rewards of tutoring individuals whose first language is not English or help individuals with basic reading, writing and math skills.  Training is required but FREE for those who will volunteer within the WEST ABE Consortium.  Call Cheryl at 763.745.6034 for more information or to register.
